One of the questions we often hear at Hope Family Funerals is: “What do other people do?” or “What is normal?”
Our answer is simple. It doesn’t really matter what’s normal. What matters is that the farewell feels right for the family and honours their loved one.
We’ve had families choose a bright orange casket instead of a traditional wooden one, create vegetable bouquets instead of floral arrangements, pour Coca-Cola onto the casket because it was their dad’s newly discovered favourite drink, and even ask us to do a few laps around the speedway in our motorbike hearse as a fitting tribute to their loved one.
Each farewell is different and every service has its own unique touches, and that’s how it should be. Our role is to guide and support families so that the goodbye feels meaningful, personal and just right for them.
